Forex CPA and forex CPL describe different ways to price customer acquisition. CPL charges for an agreed lead; CPA charges for an agreed qualifying action. For a broker, that action may include a first deposit, but the exact qualification and payment terms must be defined in the campaign agreement.

Forex CPA vs CPL: what are you buying?

Under CPL, the buyer evaluates the supplied enquiry against criteria such as country, contact validity, freshness and exclusivity. The broker then manages follow-up and onboarding. Under CPA, the parties agree which customer event qualifies, how it is attributed and how it is validated. Neither model removes all acquisition risk.

FTD leads are different from a completed FTD

FTD stands for first-time deposit or first-time depositor, depending on context. A lead record labelled FTD may indicate a previous deposit with another platform. A completed FTD for your campaign means a new customer has met the agreed deposit criteria at your brokerage. Keep these definitions separate in proposals, CRM reports and invoices.

Depositor leads can contain prior account-activity indicators. Historical activity does not establish current interest, available funds or a future deposit. Ask the supplier how each indicator was obtained and what evidence and dates accompany it.

Define qualification before launching a campaign

Agree target countries, languages, eligible customer types, duplicate checks and the attribution period. If a deposit is required, define its minimum amount, currency, validation status and treatment of reversals. Clarify whether trading activity or another onboarding step is part of the deliverable.

Record the payment schedule, including any upfront campaign budget, and the conditions for replacements or credits. Avoid assuming that every CPA supplier operates on payment after conversion. Commercial arrangements differ.

Plan by country and sales coverage

For Europe, separate country and language requirements rather than buying a single regional audience. For the GCC, distinguish Arabic and English campaigns and the specific target country. For LATAM, separate Brazil's Portuguese-language workflow from Spanish-speaking markets. Nordic campaigns should name the countries and languages the broker can actually support.

Check that lead delivery, follow-up hours, account opening and support match the selected market. A campaign cannot compensate for an onboarding process that the intended customer cannot complete.

Measure the full acquisition funnel

Track delivered records, valid contacts, reached prospects, qualified enquiries, completed applications and qualifying FTDs as separate stages. Use the same attribution window for each cohort. Report cost per qualifying FTD alongside refunds, rejected records and the time needed to convert.

Recovery leads need a separate workflow that confirms present interest and respects the person's previous experience. A new trading account is not a way to guarantee recovery of historical losses.
